Hey, you! So as some of you may already know, last Saturday I was invited to my first Blogger Lunch event here in the States at Chopps American Bar and Grill courtesy of Blog and Tweet Boston. Chopps is a modern chophouse serving inspired American cooking including a variety of juicy all natural beef, fresh seafood and regional dishes. The best part is that Chopps only gets their supplies from the best suppliers and it is big on supporting local, nearby farms as well as businesses!
I love the set up and ambience at Chopps. Very friendly, open and pretty much gives out a feeling that’s a combination between, warm, light and bright. The Greatroom which is the front area of the restaurant was packed! And throughout our lunch, more and more customers kept on coming in, indulging themselves in delicious tasty food and drink. Further inside, there’s a separate private dining room available for customers who are looking to dine privately or have private functions.
I have to admit that I didn’t know what to expect, and I was quite nervous. I was greeted by one of Chopp’s General Managers Davide. He was so welcoming and he poured me a glass of champagne before showing me the way to the table where the other bloggers were sitting.
Our table was set up so neatly and not too long after we were all settled down, our waiters came to greet us and poured us a glass of white wine before serving us a variety of mouthwatering appetizers. I have to say, Chopps definitely has some of the best waiters that I’ve ever came across in my whole life. They were so knowledgeable, polite, helpful and very upbeat and that’s always a plus in my book! Who likes shitty services anyway, right?
For starters we had Yellowfin Tuna Tartar, Flash Fried Scallop and Shrimp, Melon and Prosciutto, and Lamb Lollichops. I couldn’t even decided which was my favorite out of the four because my decision changes each time I tried something new. They were just that good! But in all seriousness, if I really had to choose, it’d be a tie between the Yellowfin Tuna Tartar and Flash Fried Scallop and Shrimp. The tuna was just so fresh and the crispy wonton definitely complemented the whole overall taste with crunchiness. The scallop and shrimp were so crispy and yet still moist on the inside, fried to perfection! If you’re a big tuna and shrimp fan like me, you definitely should give them a try!
Not too long after we completely demolished the appetizers, our servers brought out our main entrées and the air was filled with such a divine smell! Oh before I forget, each of us were also given a glass of red and white wine, but I’m not really a wine drinker and since I only took one small sip of each I can’t really say anything about that. We had East Coast Halibut, Sesame Soba Noodles, Line-caught Cod, Flat Iron Steak, Kurobuta Pork Chop, and Tomahawk Ribeye Chop. Let me tell you, I’m not even a fan of steaks and chops especially ones that are not well-done, BUT I actually liked the ones that were served at Chopps! So if you’re a fan of steak and chops, you’ll LOVE what Chopps has to offer! My favorites out of all the delicious entrées were the Line-caught Cod and the Sesame Soba Noodles as it has that special taste that makes you want to eat and come back for more! And I just love how the cod melts in your mouth and the combination of taste between the cod and the corn puree is simply scrumptious!
Aside from all of the entrées, we were also served three different types of sides. We had Roasted Fingerlings, Tots, and Crispy Artichokes. It was my first time having artichokes and I liked it! And although I’ve had tater tots multiple times, I have to say, this one is one of the best! It was so crunchy and flavorful making it without a doubt it’s my favorite side. You should definitely try it when you visit Chopps!
During our visit, we were so well taken care of by both of Chopps’ General Managers Davide and Tim, Michael one of our servers as well as the two amazing Chefs, Chef David and Chef Daniel. They were so friendly to us, sharing with us things about themselves, Chopps and the food that they make. Such a pleasure to have met the men behind all of the lip-smacking food that we had devoured!
Then it was sweet toothing time! Aah.. dessert time is the best time, don’t you agree?! We had New York Style Cheesecake, Lemon Meringue Tart, Frozen Dark Chocolate and Espresso Soufflé, and Warm Blueberry and Rhubarb Cobbler. Although all of them were so yummy, my favorite dessert for that day would have to be the lemon meringue! It has the perfect crust, perfect lemony flavor, perfect meringue topping.. I loved it!
I was so full after having a taste of everything that was served! Before the event ended Chef Daniel surprised us with a signed copy of his book called Simply New England! I, of course was so excited! He said that the book features his recipes and they’re all take about 45-minutes to make! I told Jeff about it and we plan to make a dish from one of the recipes next week!
I had such a great lunch and I’d definitely recommend Chopps! In fact, I plan to bring Jeff for a dinner date some time soon! The fact that it serves delicious steaks, chops as well as seafood makes it a perfect restaurant for us since I love seafood and Jeff is a steak eater! No doubt, I’m giving Chopps a full five starfishes!
